The second wave with the arrival of the iPhone 3Gs, which has not yet been officially sold in our country, did not happen precisely for the reasons indicated above. IPhone 3G users do not understand what it is, for which you have to pay about thirty thousand rubles or more. The battery life of the iPhone 3Gs, in my opinion, has remained unchanged. I deliberately did not look at the official data, but simply used the device as usual. For me, the usual mode is constantly checking three mailboxes, using a browser, music, Wi-Fi and Push on, about an hour of talk a day. Actually, towards the evening, the charge indicator strip decreased by more than half, and the iPhone was charged all night. He spent the evening and night in quiet mode, only occasional calls and SMS, mail, Wi-Fi were turned off. And already in the morning, at nine o'clock in the morning, a message appeared on the screen about ten percent of the battery charge. I did not torture further, I connected a USB cable. In general, don't count on long run times. The matter is, in principle, fixable, there are a lot of accessories for the device on the market, these are covers with a battery, and so on.
I completely forgot, another interesting feature in 3Gs is the ability to turn on the display of the battery charge as a percentage. A useful thing, earlier, in order to see the percentages, you had to "break" the device in software.
Compass
There is a compass. What's the big deal - I do not quite understand, I must, apparently, go mushrooming with the iPhone 3Gs in order to appreciate it. If I suddenly get lost and do not return, then the testing has failed.
As faithful comrades suggest, a compass is not just a compass, but a kind of thing for the introduction of "augmented reality technology." Some contacts are dialed the first time, some are not dialed at all, as if they were not there. I believe that optimization has not been done here yet; when typing in English, everything is much better.
- A set of numbers, you need to say "Number, eight nine zero, and so on." There are no questions at all, it works perfectly, everything is fine.
- There are a lot of commands for the player, you can start or pause playback by voice, turn on the Shuffle mode, make the player play similar songs (Genius), turn on such and such an album or playlist. Back when I wrote about VoiceOver in the iPod Shuffle, I made a suggestion about something similar in the iPhone - here it is, a clear confirmation. The voice control works fine, as long as it does not come to long names, for example, I have many mixes that are called that. The device copes with ordinary albums without difficulty, when there is a relatively short and intelligible title, an understandable album, a playlist. Let's say I have playlists "Morning", "Day", "Evening" - there are no questions, great.
If the name of the subscriber you named is not entirely clear or several similar names are found, the device will warn you about this and offer to choose.
Surely, there are still a number of improvements and changes to be made, however, in the current state, voice control of iPhone 3Gs is extremely convenient in some cases, its presence and implementation pleases. True, there are no instructions here, you see the names of the commands on the display, when you say a word, the waves "jump", demonstrating that the device heard you. And instruction, in my opinion, is necessary.

- The display cover really protects you from tedious and lengthy cleaning, makes the device tidier; I don't know how, but this thing works.
- A headset with a full remote control.
- I liked the implementation of voice control, let's hope that recognition will work better in localized devices.
- Nike + iPod, having this app out of the box is a good addition.
The rest of the add-ons, both the video and the compass, are less important. Not many people shoot video on the phone, in addition, for the iPhone, there were already applications that allow you to do this trick. It is good, of course, that this functionality is there initially, but it is secondary here (to put it mildly).
So, for starters, the conclusion for iPhone 3G owners who do not want to switch to anything else. It's worth updating, you will feel the difference in the first hours of use. For example, it's time for me to return the phone to the owners, and I am horrified to think about how I can change back to the iPhone 3G. When, how and for how much to buy 3Gs - it's your business, you can take a "European", you can wait for the start of official sales, it all depends on the amount in your wallet. It is possible, in the end, to stay on 3G in anticipation of new devices, but no one knows when it will be. I doubt that a new iPhone model will appear in Russia by mid-2010.
Conclusion for owners of other devices, smartphones or communicators. At the moment, iPhone 3Gs provides the owner unique opportunities on working with a touch screen, web surfing, the mail is interesting and simple, and as a gaming platform, the iPhone has long outstripped all competitors (if we talk about phones). Neither the N-gage nor the SE’s gameplay can be compared to what is happening with the iPhone games. You can find a lot of good toys, many of them are extremely unusual and fascinating. This is the first moment. The second is the ability to watch videos, this is a perfectly working YouTube, given the size of the display (3.5 inches, resolution 480x320 pixels) and the speed of work, viewing becomes extremely pleasant. The third point: despite the seeming "unincorporatedness", the iPhone may well become your faithful companion in business. For example, using Apple's MobileMe service, you get the ability to sync mail, calendar, contacts, browser bookmarks between a laptop (in my case) and a phone. Thanks to him, right on the phone, you can use the iDisk program to store and view office documents and other files (including music). I am not campaigning for anyone, but to say that the iPhone is “for ladies” and cannot perform some mysterious “business functions” is at least ridiculous.
Another thing is that I would not recommend this device for purchase to everyone. For example, if your main tasks are to call, write SMS, then it is hardly worth spending money. I will not recommend 3Gs to “current fashionistas” - there are much more interesting novelties for you, such as Nokia N97, Samsung i8910 and so on. Apple devices are no longer fashionable, forgotten, passed, it's time to understand. Anyway, it sold out for nine thousand, phew, nightmare, cheap. For mods, this is a nightmare and not. Also, in no case should the adherents of Windows Mobile approach 3Gs - there is nowhere to dig, there is nothing to set up, so it’s not worth it. If interesting, surfing from a mobile device is important, normal, beautiful mail, multimedia capabilities, convenience and speed of work, then yes, iPhone 3Gs is your choice.
Apple managed to do the impossible: not only to infiltrate a seemingly already formed market, but also to reverse a number of established foundations. For example, this is the constant completion of the existing OS for a family of devices. And not abandoning it, inventing a new system, inventing new devices for a new system, completing a new system, not everything worked out, abandoning it, inventing a new system, new devices, completing, refusal - further ad infinitum.
